Most applicants to law school dread taking the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), a half-day standardized test required for admission to all law schools that are members of the Law School Admission Council. Here are some guidance by CF India Portal Exprets :-

What  LSAT  is all about?
The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is the multi-hour standardized exam required for admission to JD and LLM degree programs at all law schools accredited by the American Bar Association. The LSAT is administered four times each year.

LSAT Exam Structure and Format
The LSAT consists of multiple choice sections and a writing sample section. Writing section is not the scored one. Only a copy of it is just send to respective Schools to which you apply for admissions. The lsat exam duration is for 3 hours 30 mins

Following are the various multiple choice sections

  • Analytical Reasoning (23-24 questions)
  • Reading Comprehension (27-28 questions)
  • Logical Reasoning (25-26 questions)
  • Logical Reasoning (25-26 questions)
  • Unscored section (23-28 questions)

Note that the five multiple-choice sections can appear in any order, not just the order shown here.
Each section is for time duration 35min
A fifth section i.e an unscored section  is basically  used to pretest new test items, and is not used to calculate your score, but you won’t know which section is the unscored  section.

LSAT  SYLLABUS:
  • 2 logical reasoning sections with 24-26 items in which you are asked to analyze statements for errors in logic.
  • 1 analytical reasoning section with 24 items in which you are asked to solve complex deductive reasoning puzzles
  • 1 reading comprehension section with 26-28 items in which you are asked to read passages and answer questions
  • 1 experimental section, which can be any of the above(note : you might not be aware of this experimental section)
  • 1 writing sample :write an essay on a specified topic. It is sent with your application to law schools to demonstrate your writing and thinking skills.

 LSAT Testing Procedures and Rules:
Here are the basic rules all test takers must follow during the exam:
  • During each timed section, you may work only on that section. You are not permitted to work ahead or to return to any previous section.
  • You can mark in your test booklet, but you earn credit for a correct answer only by filling in the appropriate “bubble” on a separate answer sheet.
  • Scratch paper is provided only for the Writing Sample section.
  • You may bring pencils and highlighters for use during any section of the exam. Pens are not permitted for the multiple-choice sections.
  • Black-ink pens are provided for the Writing Sample section. You must use these pens to write your essay in the Writing Sample booklet.
  • Cell phones, PDAs, and timing devices that might make noises are all prohibited. (Silent timing devices such as standard wristwatches are permitted.)
LSAT SCORE:
The LSAT is scored on a scale from 120 to 180. While the average score is about 150top law schools typically accept applicants with scores over 160.

When do you take LSAT  test?

The LSAT is administered four times a year at hundreds of locations around the world. Generally you should take the LSAT by December for admission the following fall, but most students take it early (in June or October).

Note:
The LSAT ies not administered at every test center on all testing dates. In addition, there is a limited number of seats at each location for each test administration.

What Does the LSAT Test Cost?
The cost of the test can range from US$160 to US$250 and varies between countries. For information on registration, fees, test dates, locations and formats, select your test location.
